This combination medicine is mainly used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) in adults who need more than one medicine to control their blood pressure.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Treating high blood pressure (hypertension)
• Used when a single blood pressure medicine is not enough to control levels
• May be used long-term to reduce risk of heart attack, stroke and kidney problems linked to high blood pressure

HOW IT WORKS

• Olmesartan blocks a chemical called angiotensin II that tightens blood vessels, helping vessels relax and widen
• Chlorthalidone is a diuretic (water tablet) that helps kidneys remove extra salt and water, reducing blood volume
• Together they lower blood pressure through two different actions

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• Not a painkiller or fever medicine
• Not used for immediate emergency lowering of dangerously high blood pressure
• Not a cure for hypertension; it only controls blood pressure while you take it
• Not recommended for use during pregnancy

• Severe diarrhoea or vomiting leading to dehydration
• Yellowing of skin or eyes (jaundice)

How to Use Olmesar CH 40/12.5mg Tablets (OLMESARTAN 40MG+CHLORTHALIDONE 12.5MG)

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once daily
• Can be taken with or without food, but try to take it at the same time every day
• Swallow the tablet with a glass of water; do not crush or chew unless advised
• Continue taking it regularly even if you feel well, as blood pressure often has no symptoms
• Do not stop suddenly without talking to your doctor

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take it as soon as you remember on the same day
• If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue your normal schedule
• Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one

• Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
• Keep the tablet in its original strip/container until ready to use
• Keep out of reach and sight of children

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU

• Are pregnant or planning pregnancy
• Are allergic to olmesartan, chlorthalidone, or other sulfonamide-derived medicines
• Have severe kidney disease or are unable to pass urine
• Have uncontrolled diabetes with severe kidney impairment and are also on certain diabetes medicines (aliskiren-containing products)
