This combination medicine is mainly used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) in adults, either alone or when a single medicine is not enough to control blood pressure.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Managing high blood pressure (hypertension)
• Reducing the risk of heart attack, stroke, and kidney problems related to long-term high blood pressure
• Used when treatment with a single blood pressure medicine does not give enough control

HOW IT WORKS

• Olmesartan blocks a hormone called angiotensin II, which helps blood vessels relax and widen
• Hydrochlorothiazide is a diuretic (water pill) that helps the kidneys remove extra salt and water from the body
• Together, they lower the pressure on blood vessel walls, reducing blood pressure more effectively than either medicine alone

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• Not used for immediate emergency lowering of dangerously high blood pressure
• Not a painkiller or fever medicine
• Not used to treat infections
• Not recommended for use during pregnancy

• Severe, watery diarrhoea with significant weight loss
• Yellowing of skin or eyes (signs of liver problems)

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once a day
• Can be taken with or without food, at the same time each day
• Swallow the tablet with a glass of water; do not crush or chew unless advised
• Continue taking it regularly, even if you feel well, as blood pressure control needs regular use
• Do not stop suddenly without talking to your doctor

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take the missed dose as soon as you remember
• If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue your normal schedule
• Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed one

STORAGE

• Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
• Keep in the original packaging until it is time to take it
• Keep out of reach of children and pets
• Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack
