Uses and Benefits of PEGALUP SYRUP 200ML (POLYETHYLENE GLYCOL, POTASSIUM CHLORIDE, POTASSIUM CHLORIDE, SODIUM BICARBONATE)
This medicine is used to clean the bowel completely before certain medical procedures.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Bowel preparation before colonoscopy
- Bowel cleansing before certain abdominal or bowel surgeries
- Bowel cleansing before some radiological bowel examinations
HOW IT WORKS
- Polyethylene glycol holds water in the bowel without being absorbed into the body
- This increases fluid volume in the intestine, softening and flushing out stool
- Potassium chloride and sodium bicarbonate replace electrolytes lost during this flushing process, keeping the body's salt balance stable
- Together they produce a strong, controlled watery bowel movement that empties the colon completely
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- Not used for everyday constipation
- Not used as a regular laxative for long-term bowel habit problems
- Not used to treat diarrhoea, infections, or bowel disease
- Not a treatment for any underlying digestive condition
