Promethazine syrup is mainly used to treat allergic conditions and related symptoms.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Relief of allergic symptoms like sneezing, runny nose, itching and watery eyes
- Treatment of allergic skin conditions such as hives and itching
- Relief of nausea and vomiting, including motion sickness
- Symptomatic relief of cough and cold
- Short-term help with sleeplessness due to allergy symptoms
HOW IT WORKS
- It blocks histamine, a chemical released by the body during allergic reactions
- This reduces swelling, itching, redness and other allergy symptoms
- It also acts on the brain to reduce nausea and cause drowsiness, which helps with sleep and vomiting
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- It is not a cure for infections such as cold or flu viruses
- It does not treat the underlying cause of allergies, only the symptoms
- It is not recommended for regular long-term use as a sleep aid
- It should not be used in children under 2 years due to serious breathing risks

How to Use PHENERGAN SYRUP (PROMETHAZINE (5MG/5ML))
HOW TO TAKE IT
- Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually with a measuring cup or spoon for accurate dosing
- Can be taken with or without food, but taking with food may reduce stomach upset
- Avoid driving or operating machinery after taking it, as it can cause drowsiness
- Do not increase the dose or frequency on your own
