Uses and Benefits of PILOMAX 5MG TABLET (PILOCARPINE 5MG.)

Pilocarpine 5mg is used to treat increased pressure in the eye (glaucoma) and to relieve dry mouth (xerostomia) caused by conditions like Sjogren's syndrome or after radiation treatment for head and neck cancer.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Lowering high pressure inside the eye in glaucoma
• Constricting the pupil before or after certain eye procedures
• Treating dry mouth due to reduced saliva production
• Managing dry mouth symptoms after radiotherapy for cancers of the head and neck

HOW IT WORKS

• Acts on cholinergic receptors in the eye to increase fluid drainage, lowering eye pressure
• Stimulates receptors in salivary glands to increase saliva production
• Also causes the pupil to become smaller (miosis)

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• Not used for general eye redness or irritation
• Not a treatment for cataract or other structural eye disorders
• Not used for dry mouth caused simply by dehydration or common cold
• Not a painkiller and does not treat infections

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Do not increase or decrease the dose or frequency on your own
