This combination medicine is mainly prescribed to control high blood pressure in adults, especially when a single medicine alone does not give adequate control.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure)
• Used when blood pressure is not controlled by olmesartan or chlorthalidone alone
• Helps reduce the risk of stroke, heart attack, and kidney problems linked to long-term high blood pressure

HOW IT WORKS

• Olmesartan blocks the action of a hormone called angiotensin II, which causes blood vessels to relax and widen
• Chlorthalidone is a diuretic (water pill) that makes the kidneys pass out more salt and water, reducing fluid volume in blood vessels
• Together they lower blood pressure through two different mechanisms

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• Not used for emergency treatment of very high blood pressure crisis
• Not a painkiller or fever medicine
• Not used to treat heart failure alone or as a first-line therapy for kidney disease
• Not suitable for treating infections

SERIOUS SIDE EFFECTS — STOP AND SEE A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY

• Severe dizziness, fainting, or fast heartbeat
• Swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat, or difficulty breathing (allergic reaction)
• Signs of very low sodium or potassium levels such as severe weakness, confusion, muscle cramps
• Yellowing of skin or eyes, dark urine (liver problems)
• Severe watery diarrhoea with weight loss (rare intestinal problem linked to olmesartan)
• Very reduced urination or swelling of feet/ankles (kidney problems)

How to Use PINOM CT 40MG TABLET (OLMESARTAN MEDOXOMIL 40 MG + CHLORTHALIDONE 12.5 MG)

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once a day
• Can be taken with or without food, but try to take it at the same time every day
• Swallow the tablet with a glass of water; do not crush or chew unless advised
• Continue taking it even if you feel well, as blood pressure medicines work best with regular use
• Do not stop suddenly without consulting your doctor

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take it as soon as you remember on the same day
• If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue your normal schedule
• Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one

STORAGE

• Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
• Keep in the original blister pack until ready to use
• Keep out of reach of children and pets
• Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU

• Are allergic to olmesartan, chlorthalidone, or any sulfonamide-derived drug
• Are pregnant or planning pregnancy
• Have severe kidney disease or are unable to pass urine (anuria)
• Have uncontrolled low sodium or potassium levels

TELL YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE STARTING IF YOU

• Have kidney or liver disease
• Have diabetes, especially if taking aliskiren-containing medicines
• Have gout or a history of high uric acid levels
• Are breastfeeding
