This combination medicine is mainly used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) in patients who need more than one medicine to control it.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Treating high blood pressure
• Used when a single blood pressure medicine is not enough to control it
• Sometimes used to help protect the heart and kidneys in people with high blood pressure

HOW IT WORKS

• Ramipril is an ACE inhibitor that relaxes and widens blood vessels, reducing the pressure needed to pump blood
• Hydrochlorothiazide is a diuretic (water pill) that helps the kidneys remove extra salt and water, reducing blood volume
• Together, they lower blood pressure through two different actions

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• Yellowing of skin or eyes (jaundice)
• Signs of very low sodium or potassium levels such as confusion, severe weakness, or irregular heartbeat
• Very little or no urine output

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take this medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once a day
• Take it at the same time every day to maintain steady effect
• Can be taken with or without food, but try to be consistent
• Swallow the tablet with a glass of water; do not crush or chew unless advised
• Do not stop taking it suddenly without consulting your doctor, even if you feel well
• Continue regular blood pressure checks as advised by your doctor

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take the missed dose as soon as you remember
• If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue as normal
• Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one
