This medicine is used mainly for the treatment of tuberculosis (TB), a bacterial infection that most commonly affects the lungs but can also affect other parts of the body.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Treatment of pulmonary (lung) tuberculosis
• Treatment of certain forms of extrapulmonary tuberculosis, as advised by the doctor
• Used as part of a combination TB treatment regimen, often along with other anti-TB medicines

HOW IT WORKS

• Rifampicin blocks an enzyme bacteria need to make RNA, stopping their growth and multiplication
• Isoniazid blocks the production of the bacterial cell wall, which kills the TB bacteria
• Together they act on the bacteria in different ways, reducing the chance of the bacteria becoming resistant

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• Not used for viral infections like cold, flu, or COVID-19
• Not used for ordinary bacterial infections such as urinary or skin infections
• Not a painkiller or fever medicine
• Not to be used without a confirmed or strongly suspected diagnosis of TB

This medicine should only be used under the supervision of a doctor treating TB, and the full course must be completed even if symptoms improve early.

How to Use RCINEX 600MG TABLET (Rifampicin 600mg + Isoniazid 300mg)

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once a day
• Best taken on an empty stomach, at least 30 minutes before food, unless your doctor advises otherwise
• Swallow the tablet with a full glass of water; do not crush or chew unless advised
• Do not stop the medicine early even if you feel better — TB treatment must be completed fully
• Take at the same time each day to help you remember

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take the missed dose as soon as you remember on the same day
• If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and continue as usual
• Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one
• If you miss several doses, inform your doctor as soon as possible

STORAGE

• Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
• Keep in the original packaging until it is time to take the dose
• Keep out of reach of children
• Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU
