Risperidone 2mg is mainly used to treat mental health disorders that affect thinking, mood and behaviour.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Schizophrenia and related psychotic disorders
• Manic episodes associated with bipolar disorder
• Behavioural disturbances such as aggression or agitation in certain conditions, when advised by a doctor
• Irritability associated with autism spectrum disorder in children, when prescribed by a specialist

HOW IT WORKS

• It blocks certain dopamine and serotonin receptors in the brain
• This helps reduce hallucinations, delusions, and disorganised thinking
• It also helps stabilise mood and reduce agitation

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• It is not a cure for mental illness; it only controls symptoms
• Not used for simple anxiety or everyday stress
• Not meant for occasional sleep problems
• Should not be used for dementia-related psychosis in elderly patients unless specifically advised, due to increased risks

HOW TO TAKE IT
