This combination medicine is used to manage type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults, along with a proper diet and exercise plan.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Controlling high blood sugar levels in type 2 diabetes
• Used when diet, exercise and a single diabetes medicine are not enough to control sugar levels
• Sometimes used along with other diabetes medicines like metformin

HOW IT WORKS

• Dapagliflozin helps the kidneys remove excess sugar from the body through urine
• Sitagliptin helps the body produce more insulin after meals and reduces sugar production by the liver
• Together they help lower blood sugar levels more effectively than either alone

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• Not used for type 1 diabetes
• Not used for diabetic ketoacidosis
• Not a treatment for weight loss, though some weight loss may occur
• Not meant for children

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

• Joint pain
• Skin rash

SERIOUS SIDE EFFECTS — STOP AND SEE A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY

• Signs of dehydration or very low blood pressure (severe dizziness, fainting)
• Severe pain in stomach, nausea and vomiting (possible pancreatitis)
• Signs of ketoacidosis even with normal sugar levels (nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, unusual tiredness, difficulty breathing)
• Signs of a severe allergic reaction (swelling of face/lips/throat, difficulty breathing, severe rash)
• Signs of kidney problems (reduced urination, swelling in legs)
• Signs of a serious skin reaction (blistering, peeling skin)

How to Use SITAXA-D 5/100MG TABLET (DAPAGLIFLOZIN 5MG + SITAGLIPTIN 100MG)

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once daily
• Can be taken with or without food, but try to take it at the same time every day
• Swallow the tablet whole with water; do not crush or chew unless advised
• Continue taking it regularly even if you feel well, as diabetes needs ongoing treatment
• Do not stop the medicine without talking to your doctor

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take it as soon as you remember on the same day
• If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one
• Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed one

STORAGE

• Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
• Keep in the original packaging until ready to use
• Keep out of reach of children

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU

• Are allergic to dapagliflozin, sitagliptin, or any ingredient in the tablet

• Have a history of pancreatitis (discuss with your doctor first)
