This medicine is mainly used to treat and prevent anaemia caused by low iron, folic acid, and vitamin B12 levels in the body.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Treating iron deficiency anaemia
- Treating anaemia due to folic acid or vitamin B12 deficiency
- Preventing nutritional deficiency anaemia in pregnancy and growing children
- Supporting recovery after blood loss or poor dietary intake
HOW IT WORKS
- Sodium feredetate supplies iron needed to make haemoglobin, which carries oxygen in blood
- Folic acid helps in production of new, healthy red blood cells
- Vitamin B12 supports red blood cell formation and nerve health, working together with folic acid
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- It is not a painkiller and does not treat infections
- It does not treat anaemia caused by chronic kidney disease or bone marrow disorders unless specifically advised
- It is not meant for general energy boosting without a diagnosed deficiency
- It should not be used as a substitute for treating the underlying cause of blood loss

- Severe stomach pain or vomiting
- Signs of allergic reaction such as skin rash, itching, swelling of face or throat, difficulty breathing
- Black, tarry stools or blood in vomit
- Unusual tiredness with yellowing of skin or eyes

How to Use SOLFE TABLET (SODIUM FEREDETATE (231MG) + FOLIC ACID (1.5MG) + VITAMIN B12 (15MCG))
HOW TO TAKE IT
- Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once or twice daily
- Preferably take after meals to reduce stomach irritation
- Swallow tablets with water; do not chew unless advised
- If using syrup, use the measuring cup provided
- Avoid taking with tea, coffee, or milk as they can reduce iron absorption
- Do not take together with calcium or antacid tablets without a gap, as this may reduce absorption
IF YOU MISS A DOSE
- Take it as soon as you remember
- If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one
- Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one
STORAGE
- Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
- Keep the bottle or strip tightly closed
- Keep out of reach of children, as iron overdose in children can be dangerous
- Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU
- Are allergic to iron, folic acid, vitamin B12, or any ingredient in this medicine
- Have a condition causing iron overload, such as haemochromatosis or haemosiderosis
- Have been told you have a vitamin B12-dependent tumour without medical clearance
TELL YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE STARTING IF YOU
- Have peptic ulcer, ulcerative colitis, or other bowel diseases
- Have a history of blood transfusions or repeated infections
- Are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding
- Are taking other iron or vitamin supplements already
- Have kidney or liver disease
MEDICINES THAT CAN INTERACT
- Antacids and calcium supplements may reduce iron absorption
- Certain antibiotics like tetracyclines and fluoroquinolones may have reduced effectiveness if taken together with iron
- Levothyroxine (thyroid medicine) absorption may be affected
- Medicines for Parkinson's disease such as levodopa may interact with iron
