Uses and Benefits of SOMPRAZ 80MG TABLET (Esomeprazole (80mg))

This composition is used to treat conditions caused by excess stomach acid production.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Severe gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)
• Stomach and duodenal ulcers, including those linked with H. pylori infection (with other medicines)
• Prevention of bleeding from stress ulcers or after certain endoscopic procedures
• Conditions where the stomach produces too much acid, such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome

HOW IT WORKS

• Esomeprazole blocks the proton pump in stomach cells that produces acid
• This reduces the overall amount of acid in the stomach
• Lower acid levels help ulcers heal and reduce reflux symptoms
• It also helps stop bleeding from acid-related stomach injuries

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• Severe skin reactions like blistering, peeling skin, or widespread rash
• Unexplained weight loss, persistent vomiting, or difficulty swallowing
• Signs of low magnesium such as muscle spasms, irregular heartbeat, or seizures
• Yellowing of skin or eyes, or dark urine (signs of liver problems)

How to Use SOMPRAZ 80MG TABLET (Esomeprazole (80mg))

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take this medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor, as this is a high-strength dose usually reserved for specific medical situations
• It may be given as a tablet, capsule, or as an injection/infusion depending on the condition being treated
• If taken orally, it is usually taken before a meal, unless your doctor advises otherwise

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU

• Are allergic to esomeprazole or other proton pump inhibitors
• Are taking medicines containing rilpivirine (used for HIV)

• Have liver disease
• Have osteoporosis or a history of bone fractures
• Have low magnesium levels or are on long-term treatment with this class of medicine
