Sucralfate is mainly used to treat ulcers affecting the stomach and duodenum (the first part of the small intestine).

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Treatment of active duodenal ulcers
• Treatment of active stomach (gastric) ulcers
• Prevention of stress-related ulcers in certain situations, as advised by the doctor
• Long-term maintenance therapy to reduce chances of ulcer recurrence, in some cases

HOW IT WORKS

• It reacts with stomach acid to form a thick, paste-like protective layer over the ulcer
• This coating protects the damaged tissue from acid, pepsin, and bile
• It allows the ulcer to heal naturally by shielding it from further irritation
• It has minimal effect on acid production itself

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• It is not used to treat general acidity or heartburn
• It is not a painkiller and does not relieve non-ulcer stomach pain
• It is not used for infections of the stomach unrelated to ulcers
• It should not be used as a substitute for antibiotics when ulcers are caused by H. pylori infection

How to Use SPARACID DS LIQUID (SUCRALFATE 1000MG)

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor
• Usually taken on an empty stomach, about one hour before meals and at bedtime
• Swallow tablets with a full glass of water
• If using a liquid form, shake well before use and measure with a proper measuring cup
• Avoid taking antacids within half an hour of this medicine unless your doctor advises otherwise
• Continue the full course even if you start feeling better

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take it as soon as you remember
• If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one
• Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one
• Try to take doses at the same times each day to maintain steady protection of the ulcer

STORAGE

• Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
• Keep the container tightly closed
• Keep out of reach of children
• Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack
