Uses and Benefits of STEMETIL INJECTION (PROCHLORPERAZINE (12.5MG))
Prochlorperazine is mainly prescribed to control nausea, vomiting and dizziness caused by inner ear problems, migraine or other conditions.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Treating nausea and vomiting
- Managing vertigo (spinning sensation) and dizziness caused by inner ear disorders
- Sometimes used for anxiety associated with nausea, as decided by the doctor
HOW IT WORKS
- Blocks certain dopamine receptors in the brain's vomiting centre, reducing the urge to vomit
- Calms overactive signals from the balance centre in the ear that cause dizziness
- Has a mild calming effect on the central nervous system
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- Not a painkiller and does not treat migraine pain itself, only associated nausea
- Not used for common cold, food poisoning-related diarrhoea, or motion sickness prevention as a first choice
- Not meant for long-term treatment of anxiety or sleep problems
- Not for use in children unless specifically advised by a doctor

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS
- Drowsiness or sleepiness
- Dizziness

LESS COMMON SIDE EFFECTS
- Restlessness or feeling jittery
- Low blood pressure on standing up, causing lightheadedness
- Skin rash
- Menstrual changes or breast tenderness
SERIOUS SIDE EFFECTS — STOP AND SEE A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY
- Uncontrollable muscle movements of face, tongue or body (tremors, stiffness, spasms)
- High fever, severe muscle stiffness, confusion, sweating (signs of a rare but serious reaction)
- Yellowing of skin or eyes, dark urine (signs of liver problems)
- Fast or irregular heartbeat
- Severe allergic reaction: swelling of face/lips/throat, difficulty breathing, severe rash

How to Use STEMETIL INJECTION (PROCHLORPERAZINE (12.5MG))
HOW TO TAKE IT
- Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually a few times a day
- Can be taken with or without food, but taking it with food may reduce stomach upset
- Swallow the tablet with water; do not crush or chew unless your doctor says it is fine
- Do not increase or reduce the dose on your own
- Continue for as long as your doctor has advised, even if you start feeling better
IF YOU MISS A DOSE
- Take it as soon as you remember
- If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue your normal schedule
- Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one
STORAGE
- Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
- Keep in the original packaging until ready to use
- Keep out of reach and sight of children
- Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack
