Uses and Benefits of TAMLET 2MG CAPSULE (TAMSULOSIN)
Tamsulosin is used mainly to treat urinary problems caused by an enlarged prostate gland in men.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Difficulty in passing urine due to benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH)
- Weak or interrupted urine flow
- Frequent urge to urinate, especially at night
- Feeling of incomplete emptying of the bladder
HOW IT WORKS
- Tamsulosin belongs to a group of medicines called alpha-blockers
- It relaxes the smooth muscles in the prostate and bladder neck
- This reduces resistance to urine flow, making urination easier
- It does not shrink the prostate but improves symptoms caused by its enlargement
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- It is not used to treat prostate cancer
- It is not a cure for benign prostatic hyperplasia itself
- It is not used for urinary tract infections
- It is not recommended for women or children
This medicine only relieves symptoms; it does not reduce the size of the prostate. Regular follow-up with your doctor is important to monitor your condition and response to treatment.
