Uses and Benefits of Telma CT 80-6.25mg Tablets (Telmisartan 80mg + Chlorthalidone 6.25mg)
This medicine is used to treat high blood pressure in adults who are not adequately controlled on a single blood pressure medicine.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Control of high blood pressure (hypertension)
- Used when a single blood pressure medicine is not enough to control the blood pressure
- May be used long term as part of ongoing blood pressure management
HOW IT WORKS
- Telmisartan blocks a hormone called angiotensin II, which relaxes and widens blood vessels
- Chlorthalidone is a diuretic (water pill) that helps the body get rid of extra salt and water through urine
- Together they reduce the workload on the heart and lower blood pressure more effectively than either alone
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- Not a treatment for sudden chest pain or heart attack
- Not meant for emergency lowering of dangerously high blood pressure
- Not a cure for high blood pressure; it only controls it while taken regularly
- Not to be used for weight loss or as a general fluid retention remedy without medical advice
