This medicine is mainly used to treat dry, irritating cough that does not produce mucus, particularly when it interferes with sleep or daily activities.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Relief of dry, non-productive cough
- Cough associated with cold, throat irritation or allergies
- Night-time cough disturbing sleep
HOW IT WORKS
- Pholcodine acts on the brain's cough centre to reduce the urge to cough
- Promethazine blocks histamine, which reduces irritation and has a mild sedative effect that helps with sleep
- Together they calm the cough reflex and provide symptomatic relief
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- Wet or productive cough with mucus/phlegm
- Cough caused by bacterial chest infections needing antibiotics
- Asthma, bronchitis or COPD as a primary treatment

HOW TO TAKE IT
- Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, using the measuring cup or spoon provided
- Shake the bottle well before use if advised on the label
- Can be taken with or without food
- Do not take more than the prescribed amount or for longer than advised
- Avoid driving or operating machinery after taking this medicine, as it may cause drowsiness
IF YOU MISS A DOSE
- Take it as soon as you remember
- If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose
- Do not double the dose to make up for a missed one

- Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
- Keep the bottle tightly closed
