Tofacitinib is used to treat conditions where the immune system attacks the body's own tissues, causing inflammation and damage.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Rheumatoid arthritis, especially when other treatments have not worked well
• Psoriatic arthritis
• Ulcerative colitis (a type of inflammatory bowel disease)
• Certain other autoimmune joint conditions as advised by your doctor

HOW IT WORKS

• Blocks enzymes called Janus kinases (JAKs) inside immune cells
• This reduces the signals that cause inflammation
• Helps reduce joint pain, swelling, and stiffness
• Helps reduce gut inflammation in ulcerative colitis

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• Not used for common infections or fevers

HOW TO TAKE IT
