This medicine is used to manage type 2 diabetes mellitus, especially to control blood sugar levels after meals along with overall glucose control.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Controlling high blood sugar in type 2 diabetes
- Reducing after-meal (post-prandial) blood sugar spikes
- Used along with diet and exercise for better sugar control
- Sometimes added when Metformin alone is not enough
HOW IT WORKS
- Voglibose slows down digestion of carbohydrates in the intestine, reducing sugar absorption after meals
- Metformin decreases sugar production by the liver and increases sensitivity of body cells to insulin
- Together they help keep blood sugar levels steady throughout the day
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- Not used for type 1 diabetes
- Not used for diabetic ketoacidosis

- Severe allergic reaction such as rash, swelling of face or lips, difficulty breathing

HOW TO TAKE IT
- Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually just before or with the start of a meal
- Swallow the tablet whole with water; do not crush or chew unless advised
- Take at the same times each day to maintain steady blood sugar control
- Continue following diet and exercise plan advised by your doctor
- Do not stop the medicine on your own even if you feel better
IF YOU MISS A DOSE
- Skip the missed dose if it is almost time for your next meal dose
- Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed one
- Try to maintain a regular meal and medicine schedule

- Have type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis
