This medicine is a combination antibiotic used to treat infections caused by bacteria that are sensitive to both ampicillin and cloxacillin.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Skin and soft tissue infections such as boils, abscesses and wound infections
• Respiratory tract infections including throat, sinus and chest infections
• Ear infections
• Urinary tract infections
• Bone and joint infections in some cases
• Infections after surgery, as advised by the doctor

HOW IT WORKS

• Ampicillin is a penicillin-type antibiotic that stops bacteria from building their cell walls, causing them to die
• Cloxacillin is also a penicillin-type antibiotic that specifically resists an enzyme called beta-lactamase, which some bacteria use to destroy ampicillin
• Together they cover a broader range of bacteria than either medicine alone

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• Viral infections such as common cold, flu or most sore throats
• Fungal infections
• Fever without a confirmed or suspected bacterial cause
• As a general painkiller or fever reducer

How to Use Ampicillin 250mg + Cloxacillin 250mg

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, in the dose and frequency advised
• Preferably take on an empty stomach, about half an hour before or two hours after food, unless your doctor advises otherwise
• Swallow tablets/capsules with a full glass of water
• Complete the full course even if you feel better, do not stop early
• Take doses at evenly spaced times each day to maintain a steady level in the body

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take the missed dose as soon as you remember
• If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and continue your normal schedule
• Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one
• If you miss several doses, inform your doctor

STORAGE

• Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
• Keep in a cool, dry place, away from children's reach
• If a liquid suspension has been prepared, check the label for how long it can be used after mixing, and keep it refrigerated if advised
• Do not use the medicine after its expiry date
