Prednisolone 1% w/v is mainly used to treat inflammation of the eye caused by allergy, injury, surgery or certain eye conditions.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

  • Inflammation of the eye due to allergy, injury or surgery
  • Uveitis (inflammation inside the eye)
  • Post-operative eye inflammation after cataract or other eye surgery
  • Certain allergic and inflammatory eye conditions as advised by your doctor

HOW IT WORKS

  • It is a corticosteroid that reduces inflammation, swelling, redness and itching
  • It works by suppressing the immune and inflammatory response in the eye tissue

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

  • It is not used to treat bacterial, viral or fungal eye infections on its own
  • It is not a routine treatment for simple dry eyes or minor eye irritation
  • It should not be used for self-diagnosed red eye without doctor's advice
  • It is not meant for long-term unsupervised use

How to Use Prednisolone 1%W/V

HOW TO TAKE IT

  • Use only in the eye, exactly as prescribed by your doctor
  • Wash your hands before use
  • Tilt your head back, pull down the lower eyelid and place the prescribed number of drops inside
  • Avoid touching the dropper tip to your eye or any surface
  • Close your eyes gently for a minute after applying to help absorption
  • If using with other eye drops, wait a few minutes between different drops as advised
  • Do not stop use suddenly without consulting your doctor, even if symptoms improve

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

  • Apply it as soon as you remember
  • If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and continue as usual
  • Do not apply double drops to make up for a missed dose

STORAGE

  • Store as directed on the pack, usually at room temperature away from heat and direct sunlight
  • Keep the cap tightly closed and avoid contamination of the dropper tip
  • Keep out of reach of children
  • Discard the bottle after the recommended period once opened, as advised on the label

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

  • Mild burning or stinging in the eye after applying

  • Signs of increased eye pressure such as headache and haloes around lights (may indicate glaucoma)
  • Signs of eye infection such as increased redness, discharge or swelling
  • Development of cataract with long-term use
  • Any sudden decrease in vision

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU
