Uses and Benefits of PREDMET EYE DROP (PREDNISOLONE 1%W/V)
Prednisolone 1% w/v is mainly used to treat inflammation of the eye caused by allergy, injury, surgery or certain eye conditions.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Inflammation of the eye due to allergy, injury or surgery
- Uveitis (inflammation inside the eye)
- Post-operative eye inflammation after cataract or other eye surgery
- Certain allergic and inflammatory eye conditions as advised by your doctor
HOW IT WORKS
- It is a corticosteroid that reduces inflammation, swelling, redness and itching
- It works by suppressing the immune and inflammatory response in the eye tissue
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- It is not used to treat bacterial, viral or fungal eye infections on its own
- It is not a routine treatment for simple dry eyes or minor eye irritation
- It should not be used for self-diagnosed red eye without doctor's advice
- It is not meant for long-term unsupervised use
Side Effects of PREDMET EYE DROP (PREDNISOLONE 1%W/V)
COMMON SIDE EFFECTS
- Mild burning or stinging in the eye after applying
- Blurred vision for a short time after use
- Watering of the eyes
LESS COMMON SIDE EFFECTS
- Increased sensitivity to light
- Dryness or irritation of the eye
- Delayed healing of any eye wound
SERIOUS SIDE EFFECTS — STOP AND SEE A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY
- Severe eye pain or persistent blurred vision
- Signs of increased eye pressure such as headache and haloes around lights (may indicate glaucoma)
- Signs of eye infection such as increased redness, discharge or swelling
- Development of cataract with long-term use
- Any sudden decrease in vision

How to Use PREDMET EYE DROP (PREDNISOLONE 1%W/V)
HOW TO TAKE IT
- Use only in the eye, exactly as prescribed by your doctor
- Wash your hands before use
- Tilt your head back, pull down the lower eyelid and place the prescribed number of drops inside
- Avoid touching the dropper tip to your eye or any surface
- Close your eyes gently for a minute after applying to help absorption
- If using with other eye drops, wait a few minutes between different drops as advised
- Do not stop use suddenly without consulting your doctor, even if symptoms improve
IF YOU MISS A DOSE
- Apply it as soon as you remember
- If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and continue as usual
- Do not apply double drops to make up for a missed dose
STORAGE
- Store as directed on the pack, usually at room temperature away from heat and direct sunlight
- Keep the cap tightly closed and avoid contamination of the dropper tip
- Keep out of reach of children
- Discard the bottle after the recommended period once opened, as advised on the label

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU
- Have a known allergy to prednisolone or any other steroid
- Have an active untreated eye infection caused by bacteria, virus (like herpes) or fungus
- Have not been examined and prescribed this by a qualified doctor

- Have glaucoma or high eye pressure
- Have a history of cataract
- Have any current eye infection or recent eye injury
- Are pregnant, planning pregnancy or breastfeeding
- Are using any other eye drops or eye medicines
- Wear contact lenses
MEDICINES THAT CAN INTERACT
- Other eye drops, especially other steroid or NSAID eye preparations
- Medicines that raise eye pressure
- Any other topical eye medication being used simultaneously — always inform your doctor about all products you use
