WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- To reduce the risk of hospitalisation due to worsening heart failure
- To reduce the risk of death from heart-related causes in heart failure patients
- Used long-term as part of overall heart failure management, often with other medicines like beta-blockers or diuretics
HOW IT WORKS
- Sacubitril blocks an enzyme called neprilysin, which increases levels of natural substances that help the heart and blood vessels
- Valsartan blocks angiotensin II, a hormone that narrows blood vessels, helping vessels relax and lowering blood pressure
- Together they reduce strain on the heart and improve its ability to pump blood
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- Not used for treating acute chest pain or heart attacks

How to Use Sacubitril 49mg + Valsartan 51mg
HOW TO TAKE IT
- Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually twice a day
- Can be taken with or without food
- Swallow the tablet with water; do not crush or chew unless your doctor advises
- Do not stop taking it suddenly without consulting your doctor, even if you feel better
- Continue other heart failure medicines as advised alongside this one
IF YOU MISS A DOSE

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU
- Are pregnant or planning pregnancy
- Have had an allergic reaction to sacubitril, valsartan, or similar medicines (ACE inhibitors, ARBs)
- Have a history of angioedema related to ACE inhibitors or ARBs
- Are currently taking an ACE inhibitor (needs a gap between switching medicines)
- Have severe liver disease
