WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Managing high blood pressure (hypertension)
• Reducing the risk of heart attack, stroke and kidney problems linked to long-term high blood pressure

HOW IT WORKS

• Telmisartan blocks a hormone called angiotensin II, which causes blood vessels to relax and widen, lowering pressure
• Chlortalidone is a diuretic (water pill) that makes the kidneys pass out extra salt and water, reducing fluid volume in blood vessels
• Together they give a stronger blood pressure-lowering effect than either medicine alone

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• It is not a painkiller and does not treat headaches or body pain
• It is not meant for emergency lowering of dangerously high blood pressure
• It does not treat infections

How to Use Telmisartan 40mg + Chlortalidone 12.5mg

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once a day at the same time
• Can be taken with or without food
• Swallow the tablet with water; do not crush or chew unless your doctor says so
• Continue taking it regularly even if you feel well, as blood pressure control needs continuous treatment
• Do not stop suddenly without talking to your doctor

• Take it as soon as you remember on the same day

• Yellowing of skin or eyes (jaundice)
• Severe skin rash or blistering
• Reduced urine output suggesting kidney problems

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU
