WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Control of high blood pressure (hypertension)
- Long-term management of blood pressure to reduce risk of heart attack, stroke, and kidney problems
- Used when combination therapy is needed for better blood pressure control
HOW IT WORKS
- Telmisartan blocks a hormone called angiotensin II, which causes blood vessels to narrow, so blood vessels relax and widen
- Cilnidipine blocks calcium channels in blood vessel walls and nerve endings, further relaxing blood vessels and reducing pressure
- Together they provide a more complete and steady control of blood pressure than either alone
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- Not a painkiller and does not treat headache or body pain
- Not used for immediate emergency lowering of dangerously high blood pressure
- Not a treatment for heart attack or stroke once it has already occurred
- Not to be used for anxiety-related temporary rise in blood pressure without doctor's advice
How to Use Telmisartan 40mg + Cilnidipine 10mg
HOW TO TAKE IT
- Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once a day
- Can be taken with or without food, but try to take it at the same time each day
- Swallow the tablet with a glass of water; do not crush or chew unless advised
- Do not stop taking it suddenly even if you feel well, as blood pressure can rise again
- Continue regular blood pressure checks as advised by your doctor
IF YOU MISS A DOSE
- Take it as soon as you remember on the same day
- If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue as usual
