Uses and Benefits of ALZOLAM 0.25MGTABLET (ALPRAZOLAM 0.25MG)
Alprazolam 0.25mg is mainly prescribed to treat anxiety disorders, including generalised anxiety disorder and panic disorder with or without fear of open spaces (agoraphobia).
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Short-term relief of symptoms of anxiety
- Treatment of panic disorder
- Sometimes used for anxiety associated with depression, only under medical supervision
HOW IT WORKS
- It acts on the brain and central nervous system by enhancing the effect of a natural calming chemical called GABA
- This slows down excessive nerve activity, producing a calming, muscle-relaxing and anti-anxiety effect
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- It is not a painkiller and does not treat physical pain
- It is not meant for everyday stress or mild nervousness
- It is not a long-term or first-line treatment for depression
- It should not be used for sleep problems unless specifically advised by your doctor

HOW TO TAKE IT
- Take this medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor, in the dose and frequency advised
- It can be taken with or without food, usually with a glass of water
- Do not crush or chew unless your doctor or pharmacist tells you to
- Do not increase the dose or take it for longer than prescribed, as it can lead to dependence
- Do not stop suddenly without consulting your doctor, as this can cause withdrawal symptoms
- Avoid alcohol while taking this medicine
IF YOU MISS A DOSE
- Take it as soon as you remember
- If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue your normal schedule
- Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one
