WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Preventing blood clots in people with atrial fibrillation (irregular heartbeat)
• Treating deep vein thrombosis (clots in leg veins)
• Treating or preventing pulmonary embolism (clots in the lungs)
• Preventing clot formation in people with artificial heart valves
• Reducing clot risk after certain heart attacks

HOW IT WORKS

• It blocks the action of vitamin K, which is needed to make certain clotting factors in the liver
• This slows down the blood's ability to clot
• The effect helps prevent new clots from forming and stops existing clots from growing

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• It is not a painkiller and does not treat pain or inflammation

• Sudden severe pain, swelling, or skin discolouration (may indicate skin necrosis)
• Signs of allergic reaction such as swelling of face, lips, or difficulty breathing

How to Use ACITROM 4MG TABLET (ACENOCOUMAROL (4MG))

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once a day at the same time
• Swallow the tablet with water; it can be taken with or without food
• Do not change your dose on your own, even if you feel well
• Regular blood tests (INR) are needed to monitor and adjust your dose
• Avoid sudden major changes in diet, especially foods high in vitamin K like leafy greens, without informing your doctor

• Take it as soon as you remember on the same day

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU
