Uses and Benefits of ALPHACEPT- 8MG CAPSULE (SILODOSIN 8MG)

Silodosin 8mg is mainly used to treat the urinary symptoms associated with an enlarged prostate gland in men.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Difficulty in starting urination
• Weak or interrupted urine flow
• Frequent urge to urinate, especially at night
• Feeling of incomplete bladder emptying due to enlarged prostate

HOW IT WORKS

• Blocks alpha-1A receptors present in the prostate and bladder neck
• Relaxes the smooth muscles around the urinary tract
• Improves urine flow and reduces urinary blockage symptoms

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• Not used to treat prostate cancer
• Not used to shrink the size of the prostate
• Not used for urinary tract infections
• Not meant for use in women or children
• Not a treatment for erectile dysfunction

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

• Dizziness
• Runny or stuffy nose
• Diarrhoea
• Retrograde ejaculation (semen entering the bladder instead of coming out)

LESS COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

• Headache
• Low blood pressure on standing up
• Nausea
• Reduced sexual desire

SERIOUS SIDE EFFECTS — STOP AND SEE A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY

• Fainting or severe dizziness
• Prolonged and painful erection (priapism)
• Signs of allergic reaction such as rash, swelling of face/lips, difficulty breathing
• Severe drop in blood pressure causing blurred vision or weakness

How to Use ALPHACEPT- 8MG CAPSULE (SILODOSIN 8MG)

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once daily
• Preferably take after the same meal each day to maintain consistent absorption
• Swallow the tablet/capsule whole with water; do not crush or chew
• Do not increase or decrease the dose on your own

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take it as soon as you remember on the same day
• If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one
• Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one
• If you miss doses for several days, consult your doctor before restarting

STORAGE

• Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
• Keep in the original packaging until ready to use
• Keep out of reach of children
• Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU

• Are allergic to silodosin or any of its ingredients
• Have severe liver disease
• Have severe kidney disease
• Are a woman or a child (this medicine is meant only for adult men)

• Have low blood pressure or history of fainting spells
• Are scheduled for cataract or eye surgery
• Have moderate kidney or liver impairment
• Are taking medicines for high blood pressure
• Have a history of heart disease

• Other alpha-blockers used for blood pressure or prostate problems
• Medicines for erectile dysfunction (PDE5 inhibitors)
• Strong antifungal or antibiotic medicines (like ketoconazole, clarithromycin)
• Blood pressure lowering medicines
