This composition is used to manage type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults who need help controlling their blood sugar levels along with diet and exercise.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- To lower high blood sugar levels in type 2 diabetes
- To control after-meal (post-prandial) blood sugar rise
- Used along with diet, exercise and lifestyle changes
- Sometimes combined with other diabetes medicines as advised by the doctor
HOW IT WORKS
- Glimepiride stimulates the pancreas to release more insulin
- Voglibose slows the digestion and absorption of carbohydrates in the intestine
- Together they help control both fasting and after-meal blood sugar levels
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- Not used for type 1 diabetes
- Not used for diabetic ketoacidosis (a diabetes emergency)
- Not a treatment for weight loss
- Not meant for occasional or as-needed use; it is a regular daily treatment

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS
- Low blood sugar (hypoglycemia)

- Dizziness or headache
- Skin rash or itching
- Weight gain
- Increased appetite
SERIOUS SIDE EFFECTS — STOP AND SEE A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY
- Severe hypoglycemia with confusion, sweating, fainting or seizures
- Yellowing of skin or eyes (jaundice) suggesting liver problems
- Severe allergic reaction with swelling of face, lips or throat and difficulty breathing
- Severe stomach pain or persistent vomiting

How to Use AMARYL MV 1MG TABLET (Glimepiride 1mg + Voglibose 0.2mg)
HOW TO TAKE IT
- Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually just before or with the first bite of a main meal
- Swallow the tablet with water; do not crush or chew unless advised
- Do not skip meals after taking this medicine, as it can cause low blood sugar
- Continue taking it regularly even if you feel well, unless your doctor tells you to stop
- Follow your doctor's advice on diet, exercise and monitoring blood sugar
IF YOU MISS A DOSE
- If you miss a dose and remember before your meal, take it as usual
- If you have already eaten, skip the missed dose and take the next dose at the normal time
- Do not double the dose to make up for a missed one

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU
- Are allergic to glimepiride, voglibose, or sulfonylurea medicines
- Have type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis
- Have severe kidney or liver disease
- Are pregnant or breastfeeding, unless your doctor says it is safe
TELL YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE STARTING IF YOU
- Have a history of frequent low blood sugar episodes
- Have kidney or liver problems
- Have any bowel or intestinal disorder
- Are planning surgery or have had a recent illness or infection
- Drink alcohol regularly
MEDICINES THAT CAN INTERACT
- Other diabetes medicines or insulin
- Beta-blockers (used for blood pressure or heart conditions), which can hide symptoms of low blood sugar
- Certain antibiotics, antifungals or steroids
- Blood thinners like warfarin
- Aspirin and other NSAIDs
