Uses and Benefits of AMIFRU 40MG TABLET (Frusemide 40mg + Amiloride 5mg)

This composition is mainly used to treat fluid build-up in the body caused by heart, liver or kidney problems, and to help manage high blood pressure.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Swelling (oedema) caused by heart failure
• Fluid retention due to liver disease (cirrhosis)
• Fluid retention due to kidney disease
• High blood pressure, when advised by a doctor

HOW IT WORKS

• Frusemide increases urine output by making the kidneys remove excess salt and water
• Amiloride also increases urine output but helps the body hold on to potassium, preventing low potassium levels
• Together they help reduce swelling and lower blood pressure while keeping potassium balanced

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• Not used for weight loss in people without fluid retention
• Not a treatment for minor, everyday swelling from standing or travel
• Not meant for self-medication without a doctor's diagnosis
• Not used to treat infections or pain

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

How to Use AMIFRU 40MG TABLET (Frusemide 40mg + Amiloride 5mg)

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once daily in the morning
• Taking it in the morning helps avoid needing the toilet at night
• Swallow the tablet with a glass of water
• Can be taken with or without food, unless your doctor advises otherwise
• Do not increase or decrease the dose on your own
• Continue taking it regularly, even if you feel well, unless your doctor tells you to stop
• Have your blood pressure and blood tests (potassium, kidney function) checked as advised

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take it as soon as you remember on the same day
• If it is already close to your next dose, skip the missed one
• Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one
• If you miss doses often, set a daily reminder or ask your pharmacist for tips

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU

• Are unable to pass urine (anuria)
• Have severely reduced kidney function or are on dialysis, unless specifically advised
• Have high potassium levels in the blood
• Are allergic to Frusemide, Amiloride, or sulfa-related drugs
• Are pregnant or breastfeeding, without doctor's approval
