Uses and Benefits of AMTAS E TABLET (Amlodipine 5mg + Enalapril 5mg)
This combination medicine is mainly used to treat high blood pressure.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Control of high blood pressure (hypertension)
- Used when a single blood pressure medicine is not enough to control levels
- Sometimes used to help protect the heart and kidneys in people with high blood pressure
HOW IT WORKS
- Amlodipine relaxes and widens blood vessels, making it easier for the heart to pump blood
- Enalapril blocks a hormone system that causes blood vessels to tighten, helping vessels stay relaxed
- Together they lower blood pressure more effectively than either medicine alone
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- Not used for immediate relief of a sudden severe rise in blood pressure (hypertensive emergency)
- Not a treatment for chest pain occurring suddenly (acute angina attack)
- Not used for conditions unrelated to blood pressure or heart workload unless specifically advised by a doctor

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS
- Dizziness
- Headache
- Tiredness or fatigue
- Dry cough
- Swelling of ankles or feet
LESS COMMON SIDE EFFECTS
- Flushing (warmth or redness of skin)
- Nausea or stomach upset
- Palpitations
- Low blood pressure symptoms like lightheadedness on standing
- Skin rash
SERIOUS SIDE EFFECTS — STOP AND SEE A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY
- Swelling of face, lips, tongue or throat with difficulty breathing (angioedema)
- Severe dizziness or fainting
- Yellowing of skin or eyes, signs of liver problems
- Very low urine output or swelling suggesting kidney problems
- Irregular heartbeat or chest pain

How to Use AMTAS E TABLET (Amlodipine 5mg + Enalapril 5mg)
HOW TO TAKE IT
- Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once a day
- Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water
- Can be taken with or without food, but try to take it at the same time each day
- Do not stop taking it suddenly even if you feel well, unless your doctor advises
- Continue regular blood pressure checks as advised by your doctor
IF YOU MISS A DOSE
- Take the missed dose as soon as you remember on the same day
- If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue as usual
- Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed one
STORAGE
- Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
- Keep in the original packaging until ready to use
- Keep out of reach of children
- Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack

This is a prescription-only medicine in India and should be used only under a doctor's supervision.
DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU
- Are pregnant or planning pregnancy (can harm the unborn baby)
- Are breastfeeding, unless your doctor says it is safe
- Have had an allergic reaction to amlodipine, enalapril or any ACE inhibitor before
- Have a history of angioedema (swelling of face/throat) with ACE inhibitors
- Have severe low blood pressure or certain heart valve narrowing conditions
TELL YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE STARTING IF YOU
- Have kidney or liver disease
- Have diabetes, especially if taking medicines that raise potassium levels
- Have a history of heart failure or heart valve disease
- Are on a low-salt diet or take potassium supplements
- Are elderly or have had recent dehydration, vomiting or diarrhoea
MEDICINES THAT CAN INTERACT
- Diuretics (water pills) and other blood pressure medicines
- Potassium supplements or potassium-sparing diuretics
- NSAID pain relievers like ibuprofen, diclofenac used regularly
- Lithium
- Other medicines that lower blood pressure, including some antidepressants

Can I take this medicine with other blood pressure tablets?
Only if your doctor has specifically prescribed the combination; do not add other blood pressure medicines on your own.
Will this medicine cause a persistent dry cough?
A dry cough is a known side effect of enalapril and should be reported to your doctor if it becomes bothersome.
How long do I need to take this medicine?
