Uses and Benefits of ANABREZ 1MG TABLET (ANASTROZOLE 1MG.)

Anastrozole is used to treat hormone receptor-positive breast cancer in postmenopausal women.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Treatment of early breast cancer after surgery to reduce the chance of it coming back
• Treatment of advanced breast cancer that has spread to other parts of the body
• Used specifically in women whose breast cancer is hormone-sensitive (estrogen receptor-positive)

HOW IT WORKS

• It blocks an enzyme called aromatase which is responsible for producing estrogen in the body
• By lowering estrogen levels, it slows or stops the growth of cancer cells that depend on estrogen
• It works only in postmenopausal women because it targets estrogen made outside the ovaries

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• Not used in premenopausal women whose ovaries are still producing estrogen, unless combined with other treatment as directed by a specialist
• Not used for hormone receptor-negative breast cancer
• Not a pain reliever and does not treat cancer symptoms directly
• Not used to prevent breast cancer in women without a diagnosis, except in specific high-risk cases decided by a doctor

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

• Hot flushes
• Joint pain or stiffness
• Weakness or tiredness
• Nausea

• Dryness of the vagina
• Loss of appetite
• Bone thinning (osteoporosis) with long-term use

• Sudden chest pain or difficulty breathing
• Signs of stroke such as sudden weakness, slurred speech, or vision loss
• Severe allergic reaction with swelling of face, lips, or throat, and difficulty breathing
• Yellowing of skin or eyes (signs of liver problems)
• Severe bone pain or fractures with minimal injury

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take this medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once a day

• Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water
• Try to take it at the same time every day to maintain a routine
• Do not stop taking it without consulting your doctor, even if you feel well

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take the missed dose as soon as you remember
• If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue your normal schedule
• Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed one

STORAGE

• Store at room temperature, away from direct heat, light, and moisture
• Keep out of reach of children and pets

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU
