Balofloxacin is used to treat bacterial infections in different parts of the body, especially where susceptible bacteria are the cause.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Respiratory tract infections such as bronchitis
- Urinary tract infections
- Skin and soft tissue infections
- Other bacterial infections as advised by your doctor
HOW IT WORKS
- It blocks enzymes bacteria need to copy their DNA
- This stops the bacteria from multiplying and helps clear the infection
- It works only against bacteria, not viruses
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- It is not used for viral infections like common cold or flu
- It is not used for fungal infections
- It should not be used to self-treat minor infections without a doctor's advice
- It is not a painkiller or fever medicine

- Yellowing of skin or eyes, dark urine (signs of liver problems)
- Irregular heartbeat, fainting, or palpitations
- Numbness, tingling, or weakness in limbs
- Seizures or severe confusion

How to Use BAZUCIN TABLET (BALOFLOXACIN 100 MG)
HOW TO TAKE IT
- Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once a day
- Swallow the tablet with a full glass of water
- Can be taken with or without food, unless your doctor says otherwise
- Avoid taking it along with dairy products, calcium, iron, or antacids at the same time; leave a gap of a few hours
- Complete the full course even if you feel better, unless your doctor advises stopping
- Drink plenty of fluids while on this medicine
IF YOU MISS A DOSE
- Take it as soon as you remember
- If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one
- Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one
STORAGE
- Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
- Keep out of reach of children
- Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU
- Are allergic to balofloxacin or other fluoroquinolone antibiotics
- Have a history of tendon problems linked to fluoroquinolones
- Are pregnant or breastfeeding, unless specifically advised by your doctor
- Are below 18 years of age, unless prescribed by a specialist
TELL YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE STARTING IF YOU
- Have epilepsy or any seizure disorder
- Have kidney or liver disease
- Have heart rhythm problems or are taking heart medicines
- Have diabetes
- Have myasthenia gravis or nerve-related muscle weakness
- Are elderly, as risk of tendon injury may be higher
MEDICINES THAT CAN INTERACT
- Antacids, calcium, iron, or zinc supplements
- Blood thinners such as warfarin
- Medicines that affect heart rhythm
- Corticosteroids (increase tendon rupture risk)
- Diabetes medicines, as blood sugar levels may be affected
- NSAIDs, as they may increase risk of nervous system side effects
