Uses and Benefits of BETACAP TR 20 CAPSULE (PROPRANOLOL HYDROCHLORIDE 20MG)
Propranolol Hydrochloride is prescribed for several heart and blood-vessel related conditions, as well as certain non-heart conditions where controlling the effects of adrenaline is helpful.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- High blood pressure (hypertension)
- Chest pain due to angina
- Irregular or fast heart rhythms
- Prevention of migraine headaches
- Tremors (essential tremor)
- Symptoms of anxiety such as palpitations and shaking
- After a heart attack, to protect the heart
HOW IT WORKS
- Blocks beta receptors in the heart and blood vessels
- Slows down heart rate and reduces the force of heart contraction
- Lowers blood pressure by reducing strain on the heart
- Reduces the frequency and severity of migraine attacks
- Reduces physical symptoms of anxiety like shaking hands
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- Not a painkiller and does not treat migraine pain once it has started

HOW TO TAKE IT
- Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually at the same time each day
- Swallow the tablet with a glass of water
- Can be taken with or without food, but be consistent
- Do not stop suddenly without talking to your doctor, as this can worsen heart conditions
- Continue taking it even if you feel well, unless your doctor advises otherwise
