Uses and Benefits of BETAVERT 24MG TABLET (Betahistine 24mg)

Betahistine 24mg is mainly used to treat vertigo and related symptoms caused by Meniere's disease.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Reducing episodes of vertigo (spinning sensation)
• Reducing tinnitus (ringing or buzzing in the ear)
• Reducing feeling of fullness or pressure in the ear
• Managing symptoms of Meniere's disease

HOW IT WORKS

• Increases blood flow in the inner ear
• Helps reduce the pressure of fluid build-up in the inner ear
• Acts on histamine receptors in the brain and inner ear to reduce vertigo signals

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• Not used for motion sickness
• Not used for general dizziness unrelated to inner ear problems
• Not a painkiller and does not treat ear infections
• Not used for hearing loss caused by other conditions

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor
• Swallow the tablet with water, preferably with food to reduce stomach upset
• Do not crush or chew unless your doctor says it is fine
• Continue taking it for as long as your doctor recommends, even if symptoms improve
• Do not stop suddenly without consulting your doctor

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take it as soon as you remember
• If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one
• Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one

STORAGE

• Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
• Keep out of reach of children
• Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU

• Are allergic to betahistine or any of its ingredients
• Have a tumour of the adrenal gland called pheochromocytoma

• Have asthma or a history of bronchial asthma
• Have a stomach ulcer or history of peptic ulcer disease
• Have low blood pressure
• Are pregnant or breastfeeding
• Have any allergy to medicines

MEDICINES THAT CAN INTERACT

• Antihistamines (may reduce betahistine's effectiveness)
• Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) used for depression
• Other medicines for vertigo or nausea
