Cefuroxime 250mg is used to treat infections caused by susceptible bacteria in different parts of the body.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Respiratory tract infections like bronchitis, sinusitis, and tonsillitis
• Ear infections such as otitis media
• Urinary tract infections
• Skin and soft tissue infections
• Uncomplicated gonorrhoea
• Early stage Lyme disease

HOW IT WORKS

• Cefuroxime stops bacteria from building their protective outer wall
• Without a proper wall, the bacteria become weak and are destroyed
• This helps clear the infection and relieve symptoms like fever and pain

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• It does not work against viral infections like common cold or flu
• It is not effective for infections caused by fungi
• It should not be used to self-treat symptoms without a doctor's diagnosis
• It is not a painkiller and does not directly relieve pain

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take this medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor
• It is usually taken with food to help absorption and reduce stomach upset
• Swallow the tablet whole; do not crush or chew it unless your doctor advises otherwise
• Complete the full course even if you feel better before finishing it
• Try to take doses at the same time each day

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take the missed dose as soon as you remember
• If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue as usual
• Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed one

STORAGE

• Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
• Keep out of reach of children

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU

• Are allergic to cefuroxime or other cephalosporin antibiotics
