Uses and Benefits of CARDIVAS CR 20MG TABLET (Carvedilol Phosphate 20mg)
Carvedilol Phosphate 20mg is mainly used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) and chronic heart failure. It may also be given to people who have had a heart attack to help protect the heart.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Controlling high blood pressure
- Managing chronic heart failure along with other heart medicines
- Improving survival after a heart attack in some patients
HOW IT WORKS
- Blocks beta receptors in the heart and blood vessels
- Slows heart rate and reduces the force of heart contraction
- Relaxes blood vessels, lowering blood pressure and easing the heart's workload
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- Not used for immediate relief of chest pain during an attack
- Not a treatment for asthma or breathing problems
- Not used to treat infections or fever
- Not recommended for sudden emergency blood pressure lowering

How to Use CARDIVAS CR 20MG TABLET (Carvedilol Phosphate 20mg)
HOW TO TAKE IT
- Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once daily
- Take with food to reduce risk of dizziness and low blood pressure
- Swallow the tablet/capsule whole; do not crush or chew unless advised
- Do not stop suddenly without consulting your doctor, as this can worsen heart problems
- Continue taking it regularly even if you feel well
IF YOU MISS A DOSE
- Take it as soon as you remember on the same day
- If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one
- Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed dose
- If you miss several doses, inform your doctor before restarting
STORAGE
- Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
- Keep out of reach of children
- Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU
- Are allergic to carvedilol or any of its ingredients
- Have severe asthma or bronchospasm
- Have a very slow heart rate or certain heart block conditions
- Have severe liver disease
- Have decompensated heart failure needing intravenous heart medicines
TELL YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE STARTING IF YOU
- Have diabetes, as it can mask signs of low blood sugar
- Have asthma or COPD
- Have kidney or liver problems
- Are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding
- Have poor blood circulation in hands and feet
- Are scheduled for surgery
MEDICINES THAT CAN INTERACT
- Other blood pressure or heart medicines (calcium channel blockers, digoxin)
- Diabetes medicines, including insulin
- Certain antidepressants or antipsychotics
- Medicines for irregular heart rhythm
- Clonidine and other blood pressure lowering agents
