This medicine is prescribed to treat various bacterial infections in the body.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Respiratory tract infections such as bronchitis and sinusitis
- Ear, nose and throat infections
- Urinary tract infections
- Skin and soft tissue infections
- Certain infections after surgery, as advised by the doctor
HOW IT WORKS
- Cefuroxime kills bacteria by stopping them from building their protective cell wall
- Clavulanic acid blocks an enzyme (beta-lactamase) that some bacteria use to destroy cefuroxime
- Together they widen the range of bacteria the antibiotic can treat effectively
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- Viral infections such as common cold, flu or most sore throats
- Fungal infections
- As a general painkiller or fever reducer
- Without a doctor's prescription, even if past infections were treated with it

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS
- Nausea
- Diarrhoea
- Stomach upset

- Vomiting
- Loss of appetite
- Skin rash or itching
- Vaginal itching or discharge (due to yeast infection)
SERIOUS SIDE EFFECTS — STOP AND SEE A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY
- Severe allergic reaction with swelling of face, lips or throat, and difficulty breathing
- Severe or bloody diarrhoea that does not stop
- Yellowing of skin or eyes, dark urine (signs of liver problems)
- Unusual bruising or bleeding
- Severe skin reaction with blisters or peeling

How to Use CEFAKIND-CV 500MG TABLET (CEFUROXIME (500MG) + CLAVULANIC ACID (125MG))
HOW TO TAKE IT
- Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, at the same time(s) each day
- Swallow the tablet whole with water; do not crush or chew unless advised
- Taking it with food can help reduce stomach upset
- Complete the full course even if you feel better before finishing it
- Do not stop early as this can lead to the infection returning or antibiotic resistance
IF YOU MISS A DOSE
- Take it as soon as you remember
- If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one
- Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one
STORAGE
- Store at room temperature, away from direct heat, light and moisture
- Keep out of reach of children
- Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack
- Discard any unused liquid suspension after the advised period once mixed

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU
- Are allergic to cefuroxime, clavulanic acid, penicillins or other cephalosporin antibiotics
- Have had a severe allergic reaction to any antibiotic in the past
- Have a history of liver problems caused by this combination before
TELL YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE STARTING IF YOU
- Have kidney or liver disease
- Have a history of stomach or intestinal disease, especially colitis
- Are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding
- Are taking any other medicines, supplements or herbal products
MEDICINES THAT CAN INTERACT
- Blood thinners such as warfarin
- Probenecid
- Oral contraceptive pills (effectiveness may be reduced)
- Other antibiotics taken together without medical advice
