WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Community-acquired pneumonia
• Acute bacterial sinusitis
• Tonsillitis and pharyngitis
• Acute exacerbation of chronic bronchitis
• Certain ear, nose and throat infections

HOW IT WORKS

• Cefpodoxime is a cephalosporin antibiotic that stops bacteria from building their protective cell wall, killing them
• Azithromycin is a macrolide antibiotic that blocks bacterial protein production, stopping bacteria from growing and multiplying
• Together they cover a wider range of bacteria, including some that may resist a single antibiotic

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• Viral infections like common cold or flu
• Fever without a confirmed bacterial cause
• Preventive use without doctor's advice
• Self-treatment of throat pain without medical evaluation

• Severe skin reaction with blistering or peeling

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually with food to reduce stomach upset
• Swallow the tablet whole with water; do not crush or chew unless advised
• Complete the full course even if you feel better after a few days
• Do not stop early as this can lead to antibiotic resistance
• Take doses at evenly spaced times as advised by your doctor

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue your normal schedule

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU

• Are allergic to cefpodoxime, azithromycin, or other cephalosporin/macrolide antibiotics

• Have had liver problems linked to previous azithromycin use
