WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Diarrhoea caused by mixed bacterial and protozoal infection
• Intestinal infections such as amoebiasis with bacterial involvement
• Abdominal infections including complicated cases needing dual coverage
• Some gynaecological infections as advised by a doctor

HOW IT WORKS

• Ciprofloxacin is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic that stops bacteria from multiplying by blocking enzymes needed for their DNA replication
• Tinidazole is an antiprotozoal and antibacterial agent that damages the DNA of anaerobic bacteria and protozoa, killing them
• Together they cover a broader range of organisms than either drug alone

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• Common cold, flu, or viral fever
• Simple viral diarrhoea without bacterial or protozoal cause
• Fungal infections
• As a general painkiller or fever medicine

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

• Nausea
• Vomiting
• Loss of appetite
• Metallic taste in mouth
• Diarrhoea
• Abdominal discomfort

LESS COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

• Headache
• Dizziness
• Skin rash or itching
• Dark coloured urine
• Sleep disturbance

SERIOUS SIDE EFFECTS — STOP AND SEE A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY

• Severe watery or bloody diarrhoea (may indicate a serious gut infection)
• Tendon pain, swelling, or sudden difficulty moving a joint
• Signs of allergic reaction like facial swelling, breathlessness, or severe rash
• Yellowing of eyes or skin, dark urine suggesting liver problems
• Numbness, tingling, or weakness in hands or feet
• Seizures or severe confusion
• Irregular heartbeat

How to Use CIPROLET AH TABLET (CIPROFLOXACIN 250MG + TINIDAZOLE 300MG)

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually with or after food to reduce stomach upset
• Swallow the tablet whole with a full glass of water
• Complete the full course even if you feel better early, to prevent resistance
• Avoid taking with dairy products, antacids, or iron/calcium supplements around the same time as they can reduce absorption
• Drink plenty of fluids while on this medicine
• Avoid alcohol during treatment and for at least 48 hours after finishing the course

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take it as soon as you remember
• If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and continue as scheduled
• Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one

STORAGE

• Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
• Keep out of reach of children
• Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU

• Are allergic to ciprofloxacin, tinidazole, or other fluoroquinolone/nitroimidazole drugs
• Are pregnant or breastfeeding, unless specifically advised by your doctor
• Have a history of tendon problems linked to fluoroquinolones
• Have a known blood disorder affecting white blood cells

TELL YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE STARTING IF YOU

• Have epilepsy or any seizure disorder
• Have kidney or liver disease
• Have a heart rhythm problem or are on heart medicines
• Have myasthenia gravis
• Are diabetic or elderly

• Blood thinners like warfarin
• Antacids, calcium, iron, or zinc supplements
• Theophylline or other seizure-threshold-lowering drugs
• Other medicines affecting heart rhythm
• Alcohol
