This combination medicine is prescribed to treat infections caused by susceptible bacteria in different parts of the body.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Respiratory tract infections such as bronchitis and sinusitis
• Ear, nose and throat infections
• Urinary tract infections
• Skin and soft tissue infections
• Typhoid fever caused by susceptible bacteria

HOW IT WORKS

• Cefixime stops bacteria from building their protective cell wall, which kills them
• Clavulanic acid blocks an enzyme (beta-lactamase) that some bacteria use to destroy cefixime
• Together they make the antibiotic more effective against resistant bacteria

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• Viral infections such as common cold, flu or most sore throats
• Fungal infections
• As a general painkiller or fever medicine
• Preventing infections without a doctor's advice

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually twice a day
• Can be taken with or without food, but taking with food may reduce stomach upset
• Swallow the tablet with water; do not crush unless advised
• Complete the full course of treatment even if you feel better
• Do not stop the medicine early as the infection may come back or become resistant

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take it as soon as you remember
• If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one
• Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one

STORAGE

• Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
• Keep out of reach of children
• Do not use after the expiry date
• If a reconstituted liquid form is used, check label for refrigeration and discard time
