Chlorhexidine Gluconate 0.2% w/v is mainly used to treat and prevent infections of the mouth and gums.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Treating gum disease (gingivitis) and bleeding gums
- Managing mouth ulcers and oral infections
- Maintaining oral hygiene after dental surgery or tooth extraction
- Reducing bad breath caused by bacteria
- Use before and after dental procedures as advised by a dentist
HOW IT WORKS
- It is an antiseptic that kills a wide range of bacteria and some fungi in the mouth
- It binds to the lining of the mouth and teeth, giving long-lasting antibacterial action
- It reduces plaque formation by preventing bacteria from sticking to teeth and gums
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- It is not used for sore throat caused by viral infections like common cold
- It is not a treatment for tooth decay or cavities
- It is not meant to be swallowed or used as a regular drinking mouthwash
- It does not replace brushing and flossing for daily oral hygiene

How to Use CLOHEX (CHLORHEXIDINE GLUCONATE 0.2% W/V)
HOW TO TAKE IT
- Use only as directed by your doctor or dentist, usually as a mouth rinse or gargle
- Take a measured amount (as advised) and rinse or gargle for about 30 seconds to 1 minute
- Spit out the solution completely after use — do not swallow it
- Avoid eating or drinking for some time after use for better effect
- Do not dilute with water unless instructed
- Do not use immediately after brushing with toothpaste, as it may reduce effectiveness
IF YOU MISS A DOSE
- Use it as soon as you remember
- If it is almost time for the next use, skip the missed one and continue as usual
- Do not use it more often than advised to make up for a missed dose
