Ethamsylate 250mg is mainly used to control or prevent excessive bleeding from small blood vessels (capillaries).

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Heavy or prolonged menstrual bleeding (menorrhagia)
• Bleeding after surgical operations
• Bleeding after tooth extraction or minor surgical procedures
• Nosebleeds and other capillary bleeding
• Bleeding related to certain blood vessel disorders

HOW IT WORKS

• It strengthens the walls of small blood vessels, making them less likely to leak
• It helps platelets stick together better, aiding faster clot formation
• It does not affect normal blood clotting time or increase risk of unwanted clot formation

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• It is not a painkiller and does not treat menstrual cramps
• It does not treat the underlying cause of heavy bleeding, such as fibroids or hormonal imbalance
• It is not used to treat major arterial bleeding
