WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Control of high blood pressure (hypertension)
• Sometimes used to reduce strain on the heart in patients with related heart conditions, as advised by the doctor

HOW IT WORKS

• Losartan blocks the action of a hormone called angiotensin II, which relaxes and widens blood vessels
• Atenolol blocks beta receptors in the heart, slowing the heart rate and reducing the force of contraction
• Together they lower blood pressure through two different mechanisms

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once a day
• Can be taken with or without food, but try to take it at the same time every day
• Swallow the tablet with water; do not crush or chew unless advised
• Do not stop suddenly without consulting your doctor, as this can cause a sudden rise in blood pressure or heart rate

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take it as soon as you remember
• If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue your normal schedule
• Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one

STORAGE

• Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU
