WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Treatment of endometriosis (a condition where uterine tissue grows outside the uterus)
• Treatment of fibrocystic breast disease (painful lumpy breasts)
• Prevention of attacks of hereditary angioedema (episodes of sudden swelling)
• Sometimes used for other hormone-related menstrual disorders as advised by your doctor

HOW IT WORKS

• Danazol suppresses the pituitary hormones that stimulate the ovaries
• This reduces estrogen production, which shrinks endometrial tissue and breast cysts
• It also helps normalise certain blood proteins involved in hereditary angioedema attacks

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• It is not a painkiller and does not treat general period pain unrelated to endometriosis
• It is not a contraceptive, though it may affect fertility during use
• It is not used to treat infections or unrelated hormonal disorders such as thyroid problems

HOW TO TAKE IT

IF YOU MISS A DOSE
