This medicine is prescribed to treat various bacterial infections in the body.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Respiratory tract infections like sinusitis, throat and tonsil infections
- Ear infections
- Skin and soft tissue infections
- Urinary tract infections
- Chest infections such as bronchitis and pneumonia caused by susceptible bacteria
HOW IT WORKS
- Cefpodoxime stops bacteria from building their protective cell wall, causing them to die
- Clavulanic Acid blocks an enzyme called beta-lactamase that some bacteria use to destroy antibiotics
- Together they widen the range of bacteria this medicine can treat and make it more effective against resistant strains
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- Viral infections like common cold, flu or most sore throats
- Fungal infections
- As a general painkiller or fever medicine
- To be used without doctor's advice for undiagnosed fever or illness

HOW TO TAKE IT
- Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually with food to reduce stomach upset
- Swallow the tablet whole with water; do not crush or chew unless your doctor says so
- Take doses at evenly spaced times each day
- Complete the full course even if you feel better, unless your doctor tells you to stop
- Do not take extra doses or share this medicine with others
