Uses and Benefits of EMLUKAST FX TABLET (MONTELUKAST 10MG + FEXOFENADINE 120MG)

This combination medicine is mainly used to treat allergic rhinitis (seasonal or year-round) and to help manage symptoms in people who also have mild asthma triggered by allergies.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Relief of sneezing, runny or blocked nose, and itching due to allergies
• Relief of itchy, watery eyes associated with allergic rhinitis
• Add-on control of allergy-related asthma symptoms

HOW IT WORKS

• Montelukast blocks leukotrienes, chemicals that cause airway swelling and mucus production
• Fexofenadine blocks histamine, a chemical that causes sneezing, itching and runny nose
• Together they give broader relief from allergy symptoms than either alone

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• Not for treating a sudden asthma attack or breathing emergency
• Not a painkiller and does not treat fever
• Not for treating bacterial or viral infections
• Not recommended for common cold without allergy component

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

• Headache
• Drowsiness or tiredness
• Dry mouth
• Nausea
• Dizziness

LESS COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

• Stomach pain or indigestion
• Diarrhoea
• Sleep disturbances or vivid dreams
• Mild skin rash

SERIOUS SIDE EFFECTS — STOP AND SEE A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY

• Signs of allergic reaction such as swelling of face, lips, tongue or throat
• Severe skin rash, blistering or peeling skin
• Difficulty breathing or wheezing
• Mood changes, agitation, anxiety, depression or unusual behaviour
• Irregular or fast heartbeat
• Yellowing of skin or eyes (signs of liver problems)

How to Use EMLUKAST FX TABLET (MONTELUKAST 10MG + FEXOFENADINE 120MG)

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take this medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor
• It is usually taken once a day, often in the evening
• Can be taken with or without food
• Swallow the tablet whole with water; do not crush or chew unless your doctor says it is fine
• Take it regularly at the same time each day for best results
• Continue taking it for as long as your doctor recommends, even if symptoms improve

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take the missed dose as soon as you remember
• If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one
• Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed one

STORAGE

• Store at room temperature, away from direct heat and sunlight
• Keep in its original pack until ready to use
• Keep out of reach and sight of children
• Do not use beyond the expiry date printed on the pack

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU

• Are allergic to montelukast, fexofenadine, or any other ingredient in this medicine

MEDICINES THAT CAN INTERACT

• Erythromycin and certain other antibiotics
• Antacids containing aluminium or magnesium (may reduce absorption of fexofenadine)
• Fruit juices like apple, orange or grapefruit juice (may reduce fexofenadine absorption)
• Other sedating antihistamines or medicines causing drowsiness
• Phenobarbital or rifampicin (may affect montelukast levels)
