Empagliflozin 10mg is used to manage type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults, either alone or along with other diabetes medicines.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Controlling high blood sugar levels in type 2 diabetes
• Used along with diet and exercise
• Sometimes used to reduce risk of heart problems in people with diabetes and heart disease, as advised by doctor

HOW IT WORKS

• Blocks a protein (SGLT2) in the kidneys that reabsorbs sugar into blood
• Excess sugar is passed out through urine
• This lowers blood sugar levels without directly affecting insulin

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• Not used for type 1 diabetes
• Not used for diabetic ketoacidosis
• Not a substitute for insulin when insulin is required

• Symptoms of ketoacidosis like nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and difficulty breathing even with normal blood sugar
• Signs of urinary tract or genital infection that are severe or spreading
• Sudden swelling of face, lips, throat, or difficulty breathing (allergic reaction)
• Signs of kidney problems such as reduced urination or swelling in legs
• Unusual pain, tenderness, or swelling in the genital area (rare but serious infection)

How to Use EMPHA 10MG Tablets (Empagliflozin 10mg)

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once daily in the morning
• Can be taken with or without food
• Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water
• Do not crush or chew unless advised
• Drink enough fluids during the day to prevent dehydration
• Continue healthy diet and exercise habits along with this medicine

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take it as soon as you remember on the same day
• If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one
• Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed dose

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU
