Uses and Benefits of EMSITA 100MG TABLET (SITAGLIPTIN 100MG)

Sitagliptin 100mg is used to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Controlling high blood sugar in type 2 diabetes
• Used alone or with other diabetes medicines like metformin
• Helps improve blood sugar control along with diet and exercise

HOW IT WORKS

• Blocks an enzyme called DPP-4
• This increases levels of hormones that help the pancreas release insulin after meals
• It also reduces the amount of sugar produced by the liver

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• Not used for type 1 diabetes
• Not used for diabetic ketoacidosis
• Not a substitute for insulin in insulin-dependent patients
• Not a weight-loss medicine, though some patients may see mild weight changes
• Not used for immediate lowering of very high blood sugar in emergencies

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

• Headache
• Nausea
• Upper respiratory tract infection symptoms like runny nose or sore throat
• Diarrhoea

• Joint pain
• Dizziness
• Dry mouth
• Mild skin rash or itching

SERIOUS SIDE EFFECTS — STOP AND SEE A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY

• Severe stomach pain that may spread to the back, with or without vomiting (possible pancreatitis)
• Signs of allergic reaction such as swelling of face, lips, tongue or throat, difficulty breathing, or severe skin rash and blistering
• Signs of low blood sugar such as sweating, shakiness, confusion, if taken with other diabetes medicines
• Severe joint pain that is new and disabling
• Signs of kidney problems such as reduced urination or swelling in legs

How to Use EMSITA 100MG TABLET (SITAGLIPTIN 100MG)

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once a day
• Can be taken with or without food
• Swallow the tablet whole with water; do not crush or chew unless advised
• Take it at the same time every day to help you remember
• Continue taking it regularly even if you feel well, as diabetes needs long-term control
• Do not stop the medicine without talking to your doctor

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take the missed dose as soon as you remember
• If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue as usual
• Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one

STORAGE

• Store at room temperature, away from direct heat, light and moisture

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU
