This medicine is used mainly to manage blood sugar levels in people with type 2 diabetes, especially when diet, exercise, and single medicines are not enough to control blood sugar.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Controlling high blood sugar in type 2 diabetes
• Used along with diet and exercise for better glucose control

HOW IT WORKS

• Empagliflozin blocks a kidney protein (SGLT2) so extra sugar is passed out in urine

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Continue healthy diet, exercise, and blood sugar monitoring as advised

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take it as soon as you remember on the same day

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU

• Are allergic to empagliflozin, metformin, or any ingredient in the tablet
• Have severe kidney disease
• Have diabetic ketoacidosis or severe uncontrolled diabetes
• Have severe liver disease
• Have a history of lactic acidosis
• Are severely dehydrated or have a serious infection

TELL YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE STARTING IF YOU
